AISES Mission
AISES is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.

Oki, and welcome to the University of Lethbridge AISES chapter. Our University’s Blackfoot name is Iniskim, meaning Sacred
Buffalo Stone. The University is located in traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory. We honour the Blackfoot
people and their traditional ways of knowing in caring for this land, as well as all Indigenous Peoples who have
helped shape and continue to strengthen our University community.
Since 1977, AISES has supported individual student and professional members across the U.S. and Canada through chartered college and university chapters, professional chapters, tribal chapters, and affiliated PK-12 schools. Members benefit from diverse STEM-focused programming and events that support STEM careers and promote student success and workforce development in multiple crucial areas.
